About the position

The Test Technician position at Spartronics involves supporting production through various testing activities, including the setup and training of functional testing equipment. The role is crucial in ensuring that products meet quality standards and customer expectations in the Aerospace & Defense industry. The technician will engage in troubleshooting, developing test procedures, and collaborating with engineering personnel to enhance processes.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all work being performed, products and processes meet or exceed Spartronics quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Assist Engineering in planning, data gathering and set-up of process controls/studies and inspection requirements.
  • Assist production technicians in troubleshooting board and box level assembly failures to component level using schematics and common test equipment.
  • Set up test equipment for troubleshooting various types of products.
  • Perform root cause analysis to determine if failures are product or test related.
  • Develop Functional test procedures.
  • Build custom fixtures for production testing from engineering instructions.
  • Perform ESS testing (vibration, thermal testing).
  • Support production with other test activities including ICT, Flying Probe, AOI, and X-ray.
  • Assist in the electronic repair of production machinery.
  • Record performance results, analyze defect results, interpret variances or unpredicted changes in equipment or product.
  • Train Technicians and Operators to perform functional testing per procedures.
  • Determine parts needed to repair production equipment and manage inventory of spare parts.
  • Facilitate various maintenance and calibration services performed by equipment manufacturers and third-party suppliers.
  • Assist with relocation of production equipment in manufacturing areas.
  • Download and analyze data from configuration management and production control applications.

Requirements

  • U.S. person as defined by ITAR regulations.
  • Electronics Technician Diploma or associate degree in related field; or comparable vocational-technical certificate, military technical training; or combination of education/experience in related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows based PC applications, especially Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work overtime on short notice with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow complex schematic diagrams, assembly drawings and test specifications.
  • Good math fundamentals, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with hazardous chemicals, hazardous wastes, biohazards, and chemical hygiene may be required.
  • Ability to travel using personal reliable transportation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification to Advanced Soldering Workmanship Standards and ESD precautions.
  • Experience in functional and in-circuit tests.
  • Experience with advanced diagnostic skills to support production equipment.
