Parker Meggitt, a recent addition to Parker Hannifin, is a global leader in the Commercial and Military Aerospace markets, specializing in a wide range of products including fire and smoke detection systems, extinguishing systems, bleed air overheat detection systems, actuators, rudder pedal assemblies, pumps, fuel gauging systems, and high-temperature cables. Located in Simi Valley, CA, this site is within the Fire Safety & Power Systems Division (FSPSD) and is a key supplier in select energy markets, particularly in nuclear gas analyzers and nuclear containment vessel penetration cables. We work directly with some of the largest aerospace companies in the world, including Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, and Lockheed Martin, among others.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required, along with some college or vocational courses in electronics.
  • Prior job experience, 2 years minimum as test technician in similar field.
  • Must be able to read and follow verbal and written instructions in the English language.
  • Be able to read schematics and blueprints.
  • Have knowledge of practical electronic theory and basic hand tools.
  • Must have good eye/hand coordination.
  • Some computer skills required such as data input, word documents etc.
  • Possess good knowledge of electronic testing equipment and their operation.
  • Ability to interpret and follow engineering prototype sketches.
  • Ability to read and interpret company documents, such as safety rules, operating and manufacturing instructions, and Company policies and procedures.
  • Have the ability to clearly communicate with all internal and external customers in English.
  • Attention to detail is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and disassemble electro-mechanical subassemblies from blueprints, schematics, sketches, written or verbal instructions.
  • Conduct sophisticated engineering tests and detailed experimental testing.
  • Perform calibration checks on electronic or electro-mechanical products on in-process and final products.
  • Solder and assemble electro-mechanical or mechanical assemblies/subassemblies using CMM's, Service Bulletins, blueprints, wiring diagrams and rework instructions to conform to quality specifications.
  • May help Manufacturing Engineer in new or upgraded test fixtures.
  • May solder connections and electronic components to circuit boards.
  • Provide training to other technicians and production personnel.
  • Perform board level testing and troubleshooting.
  • Perform computer transactions in failure database (RMA) and MRR system.
  • May work with engineering to improve current process/design on products.
  • May use microscope.
  • Close out work orders in computer system.
  • Read written instructions, blue prints & work from engineering sketches.
  • Perform failure analysis on return units.
  • May require the repair of test stands/equipment.
  • Use hand and small electric tools.
  • Use of final test equipment and special modified test equipment.
  • Fabricate and assemble test sets from schematics, sketches, written or verbal instructions.
  • Perform detailed troubleshooting on products to identify failure mode and possible corrective actions.
  • Provide input to engineering on failure modes and trends.
  • Participate in team meeting for problem solving.
  • Assist in other departments as needed.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • May have to work with customers.
