About The Position

Emerald Technologies’ Brea, CA site is seeking a skilled and detail‑driven Test Technician III to take a leading role in our Flying Probe Test operations. In this position, you’ll work with advanced automated test systems, perform component‑level troubleshooting, and ensure our PCB assemblies meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. As a senior technician on our Test team, you’ll be the go‑to expert for programming, optimizing, and executing flying probe test programs while driving improvements in test coverage, accuracy, and efficiency. You’ll collaborate closely with Test Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to solve complex problems, elevate yields, and support continuous improvement across the production floor. Requirements

  • Strong ability to troubleshoot PCBAs at the component level (analog and digital).
  • Experience operating or programming flying probe test systems (any platform).
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, PCB layouts, and component datasheets.
  • Proficiency with test equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
  • High attention to detail with strong documentation and ESD‑safe work practices.
  • Effective problem‑solving mindset using structured debug methods.
  • Education or hands‑on experience in electronics (Associate’s degree preferred; military/vocational experience accepted).

Responsibilities

  • Program, operate, and optimize flying probe test equipment and test programs.
  • Perform advanced component‑level troubleshooting on analog and digital circuits.
  • Execute detailed PCBA test procedures with high accuracy and repeatability.
  • Analyze, document, and report test results; escalate systemic issues as needed.
  • Support continuous improvement by helping refine test documentation and processes.
  • Conduct testing for both production units and RMAs, ensuring proper pass/fail segregation.
  • Collaborate with Test Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality on debug and yield improvement activities.
