About The Position

The Test Lab Technician at Amphenol is a hands-on support role within a multidisciplinary engineering team. This position focuses on preparing, executing, and documenting electro-mechanical product testing. The ideal candidate will work closely with test engineers to operate test equipment, follow test procedures, and maintain the organization and functionality of the test lab. This is a temporary position that could lead to regular employment in 2026.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or technical diploma in a related field (Electronics, Mechanical Technology, etc.) preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a product testing or lab technician role.
  • Familiarity with electro-mechanical components and testing principles.
  • Able to follow test procedures and detailed instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Experience using electrical and mechanical test equipment.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Able to lift and handle light to medium lab equipment and test samples.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of IEC or UL standards is a plus.
  • Familiarity with connector products is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and execute mechanical and electrical tests on connector products following written test plans and procedures.
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the test lab, including equipment calibration checks and organization of test samples.
  • Accurately record test data, maintain logs, and prepare preliminary test summaries.
  • Work under the supervision of test engineers to help validate product quality and performance.
  • Prepare and assemble test setups using fixtures, connectors, and electrical equipment.
  • Operate test instruments such as multimeters, power supplies, environmental chambers, and mechanical test systems.
  • Ensure that all testing is conducted in accordance with safety and calibration standards.
  • Perform regular lab maintenance including organization, cleanliness, and restocking of supplies.
  • Collect and document data during tests with attention to accuracy and traceability.
  • Support root cause investigations by providing detailed test observations and samples.
  • Assist engineers in building or modifying test fixtures and setups as needed.
  • Archive and organize test documentation (photos, test logs, data sheets).
  • Follow standardized work instructions and report any discrepancies or issues.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
