This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable. As part of a hardworking team of specialists and engineers, you will provide structural analysis and design support for test equipment, tooling, ground support equipment (GSE), and other hardware for various spaceflight systems. You will perform structural analysis on test tooling, GSE, and other test equipment and support structures; review and provide assessment of internally designed and vendor-produced designs and analysis; and provide guidance on structural integrity requirements for test tooling, structural design consultation, and structural guidance with designers and vendors. You will support Test and GSE Leads by carrying out structural design and analysis activities in accordance with Blue Origin and national consensus standards and complete tasks including: Strength checks using classical hand calc methods as well as finite element analysis (FEA) for tooling and test equipment Analyzing and documenting structural margins in analysis reports Development of software tools and templates (Excel, Mathcad, MATLAB, Python, etc.) to assess failure modes and support the detailed analysis and optimization of test structures Documentation and/or review of stress analysis to support engineering drawings / documents release Improving enterprise analysis capabilities such as creating process automation tools for model creation, strength checks, and analysis report generation Provide guidance on system/part development and trade studies regarding structural integrity and identify opportunities for safety and cost improvements. Providing technical guidance on design concepts balancing risk, cost, and performance Maintain and report on activity schedule, budget and technical status Supporting other teams and team members with inputs for design development, analysis and trade studies We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight.
