Join us at Qualitest!   We are looking for a Test Environment Architect to join our growing team in United States    Location: Remote (US) - MST   Must haves: -Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.-10+ years of IT experience with 5+ years in Test Environment Management and DevOps.-Experience with assessments / discovery projects in the past, client facing (able to assess, define/design, implement)-Cloud or DevOps certifications (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes) preferred.-Experience in defining and implementing the enterprise Test Environment Management (TEM) strategy aligned with DevOps and release objectives.-Help enforce correct configuration, versioning, and dependencies across environments. -Establish environment governance models, including booking, access control, and usage policies.   Job SummaryThe TEMS Architect is responsible for designing, governing, and optimizing enterprise-scale test environments that support complex application portfolios across Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines. This role ensures test environments are stable, scalable, cost-effective, secure, and production-like, while enabling faster and higher-quality releases.The architect defines the strategy, architecture, standards, and operating model for test environments across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of IT experience with 5+ years in Test Environment Management and DevOps.
  • Experience with assessments / discovery projects in the past, client facing (able to assess, define/design, implement)

  • Help enforce correct configuration, versioning, and dependencies across environments.

Responsibilities

  • Define the enterprise Test Environment Management (TEM) strategy aligned with DevOps and release objectives.
  • Design environment architectures across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid infrastructures.
  • Ensure environments are production-like, scalable, and compliant with non-functional requirements.
  • Create environment reference architectures, blueprints, and patterns.
  • Hands-on expertise with cloud platforms (AWS and Azure)
  • Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and environment automation using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM, Ansible, etc.
  • Integrate environment provisioning with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab, Azure DevOps).
  • Optimize environment refresh, cloning, and teardown processes.
  • Establish environment governance models, including booking, access control, and usage policies.
  • Define and enforce environment SLAs, SLOs, and KPIs (availability, readiness, stability).
  • Drive environment stability, defect reduction, and root-cause analysis for environment-related failures.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability for test environments.
  • Help enforce correct configuration, versioning, and dependencies across environments
  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience with monitoring tools (New Relic, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Proven experience automating dependency detection during deployments
  • Stay current with industry trends in DevOps, cloud, and test environment management.
  • Define roadmaps for environment modernization and transformation.
  • Partner with QA, DevOps, Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, and Release teams.
  • Helps enforce correct configuration, versioning, and dependencies across environments.
  • Demonstrable experience in implementation, and optimization of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Enable service virtualization and stubbing to reduce environment dependencies.
  • Automate dependency management and alerting during deployments.
  • Coordinates environment schedules, bookings, dependencies, and conflict resolution.
  • Drives assessments to determine current state and provides actionable recommendations for Test Environment management
  • Performs tool rationalization to identify Tool fitment and provides recommendations
  • Act as a trusted advisor to program leadership on environment readiness and risks.
  • Support outsourcing and managed services models, including vendor governance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills
