This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As Test Engineering Manager at our Grandview, MO facility, you will lead a team of test engineers responsible for developing and executing test plans for propulsion systems, avionics, and structures. You will ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of our spacecraft components through rigorous testing methodologies while fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related technical field
  • 8+ years of experience in test engineering with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Experience with aerospace or propulsion systems testing
  • Strong understanding of instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and test methodologies
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience managing engineering teams
  • Strong communication skills and ability to present technical information to various audiences

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • Experience with liquid rocket propulsion systems testing
  • Knowledge of environmental testing, structural testing, or avionics testing
  • Familiarity with test automation and software development
  • Experience with DO-178, NASA standards, or military specifications
  • Program management experience and PMP certification
  • Experience with systems engineering concepts and lifecycle management

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of test engineers, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and career development
  • Develop comprehensive test strategies that align with program milestones and requirements
  • Oversee the design, development, and validation of test equipment and procedures
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Design Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance
  • Manage test schedules, resources, and budgets to meet program objectives
  • Drive continuous improvement in test processes, methodologies, and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Analyze test data and communicate results to stakeholders, identifying root causes and recommending solutions for technical issues
  • Champion a culture of innovation and excellence within the test organization
