Watring and Cimarron are seeking a Test Engineering Lead to support our team in Huntsville, AL. Watring is a subsidiary of Cimarron. Watring Technologies, Inc. is a Huntsville, Alabama, technology-based design and manufacturing company specializing in custom hardware and turnkey solutions. Founded in 1997, Watring Technologies’ primary support is in Aerospace and Defense. Their capabilities include hardware integration, testing, and product development. With this acquisition, Cimarron gains substantial capability in both expanded service and product offerings.

  • Lead the planning, execution, and documentation of system-level functional and environmental tests to validate performance and compliance.
  • Oversee the development and interpretation of engineering documentation, including drawings, work instructions, test plans, test procedures, and test reports.
  • Direct the design and implementation of test fixtures to support mechanical and environmental test activities.
  • Review and analyze test data, identify issues, and guide corrective actions or design improvements.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior test engineers to support their development and ensure quality execution.
  • Coordinate test activities and collaborate with cross-functional teams, customers, and subcontractors to meet program objectives and schedules.
  • Prepare and present technical findings, recommendations, and program updates to senior leadership and prime contractors.
  • Ensure adherence to customer, program, and defense industry requirements, including standards associated with DoW, Army, USSF, and MDA programs.
  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. Citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
  • Active Secret Clearance (or higher).
  • 15 or more years of experience.
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior test engineers.
  • Possess strong defense industry experience with a customer focus and knowledge that includes the Department of War, the Army, the United States Space Force (USSF), and the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
  • Experience designing test fixtures.
  • Experience conducting system-level functional testing.
  • Experience conducting environmental testing, including thermal, shock, vibration, modal, and EMI testing.
  • Ability to work hands-on with mechanical designs and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with both customer and subcontractor personnel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to advise senior leadership and prime contractors.
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with LabVIEW and MATLAB.
