About The Position

We are looking for a talented Test Engineer (On-site, 3 rd Shift) to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Cummins location Seymour, IN. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: Test Equipment Development: Design, maintain, and upgrade test equipment and architectures to support application products. Root Cause Analysis: Analyze test results and provide recommendations that guide resolution of failure events. Functional Testing Expertise: Apply knowledge of end‑product specific functional tests during assembly to ensure accuracy and reliability. Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Leverage expertise across product engineering, quality, manufacturing engineering, and facilities to drive integrated solutions. Safety Compliance: Ensure all test procedures meet required safety standards, protecting both people and equipment. Manufacturing Standards Compliance: Align test procedures with manufacturing standards to maintain consistency and quality. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to refine testing processes and architectures for greater efficiency and effectiveness. Customer Value: Deliver reliable test outcomes that improve product performance and ultimately enhance customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • Basic level of relevant work experience required.
  • This position will be a 3rd shift Manufacturing Engineering position within the Engine Test portion of the Seymour Engine Plant (SEP) business.
  • The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Mechanical Engineering (ME) or Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) preferred; Electrical Engineering (EE) or Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) may also be considered.
  • Must be willing to be hands on with new and seasoned machinery, engine control systems, cell control systems, and associated machinery/equipment.
  • Must be willing to dynamically support projects within the larger test area as needed.
  • Mechanical aptitude is required.
  • Must show some experience with computer programming/control.
  • Must be a self- starter, capable of identifying, prioritizing, and working projects on own initiative, as well as completing assigned tasks/projects.
  • Daily tasks include but are not limited to: Process review, modification, approval, and implementation; Function project support/lead for ER, PQP, RFT, BIS, HSE issue resolution; Hands on machine issue troubleshooting, including PLC and engine control system issues; Coordination and implementation of new processes/equipment; Lead for all new option change implementation for assigned equipment/area; Lead mechanical cell repair and design changes, including fluid systems, fixturing, and drive-line systems and subsystems.
  • Works closely with Skilled Trades during repair and troubleshooting activities; Works with suppliers to source, design, implement new equipment/machinery; Support production Assembly operations, collaboratively participate in design reviews, troubleshooting events, and work in cross functional teams to support plant initiatives, improvements, and goals.
  • Future responsibilities may include a direct report supervisory role of an hourly Advance Manufacturing Associate (AMA), who would support same area and initiatives.
