The Small Unmanned Aerial System (sUAS) Test Engineer at Axient will support the 413th Flight Test Squadron at Eglin AFB, Florida. This role involves working within an integrated product team to develop and test new capabilities for the US Air Force, focusing on sUAS and electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The position requires a proactive approach to support developmental flight testing in a dynamic environment.

  • Support sUAS and eVTOL aircraft testing, including remote/optionally piloted and autonomous aircraft.
  • Participate in program management reviews, test planning meetings, and design reviews with various stakeholders.
  • Evaluate technical specifications and requirements for completeness and testability.
  • Provide expert engineering and technical assistance to military agencies for assigned test programs.
  • Develop test plans and methods, defining objectives and criteria, and formulating test scenarios.
  • Conduct test hazard analyses to identify risk factors and design risk mitigation strategies.
  • Present test strategy and methods to senior leaders for approval.
  • Determine and coordinate resources needed for test execution and manage those resources.
  • Direct a multi-discipline technical team to accomplish developmental tests for new and modified aircraft and systems.
  • Interface with various engineering and operational teams to coordinate and execute tests.
  • Advise military decision makers on the progress of developmental systems.
  • Write technical reports documenting test activities, results, and system performance.
  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable technical discipline.
  • 3 years of related experience in a relevant field.
  • Proficiency in test methodologies including planning, execution, data analysis, and report preparation.
  • Familiarity with acquisitions and test management processes.
  • Ability to work on and around aircraft during ground and flight test operations.
  • Test experience with sUAS aircraft.
  • Experience with remotely/optionally piloted and autonomous aircraft.
  • Instructor or Evaluator experience on fixed-wing, rotary-wing, and/or sUAS aircraft.
  • Familiarity with Eglin Range.
  • Knowledge of Special Tactics and/or Irregular Warfare.
  • Program Management background.
