About The Position

At our Hercules, CA R D centers, you will be working with a small, nimble, dynamic, and fun team of brilliant scientists and engineers to bring clinical diagnostics products to market. You would be putting together prototypes, you would be running characterization studies and experiments on a prototype instrument, you would be investigating issues, you would be designing improvements based on your findings and you would be putting together design packages and documentation - All under the guidance of experienced engineers and scientists.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate (sophomore/junior) student pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Biomedical Engineering or equivalent.
• Must have a 3.0 cumulative overall GPA or better (on a 4.0 scale).
• Basic understanding of scientific methods, testing, and statistics.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
• Knowledge of Python, C, C++, C#, Java, or Arduino a plus.
• Knowledge of Operating System such as Windows 10 or above and QNX is plus.
• Strong problem solving, organizational, and communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior scientists/engineers in the evaluation of microfluidic instrument assemblies through running biochemical test methods, detailed data analysis, and lab experiment set up.
• Assist senior scientists/engineers in the analysis of experimental data including data processing and analysis using software tools.
• Perform root-cause investigations on systems and components to correct problems and improve product quality and reliability.
• Generate and release project documentation (test procedures, test reports, defect reporting, etc.) to support the development and manufacture of world class life science instruments.
