About The Position

At a Glance Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Test Engineer II to join the Audio Video Division in Vandalia, OH. The Test Engineer II is responsible for validating and verifying a portfolio of complex AV and computer peripheral products. This role is hands-on and lab-focused, with ownership of test execution, documentation, failure analysis, and test automation. The Test Engineer II will work closely with Product Management, Marketing, Manufacturing, and Technical Support teams to ensure products meet functional, performance, and compatibility requirements throughout their lifecycle. What Will You Do? Product Validation and Testing Perform functional, validation, and compatibility testing on AV and computer peripheral products against relevant PC, mobile, and AV devices from the market and other Legrand divisions. Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test procedures, and test reports to ensure thorough coverage and long-term traceability of results. Identify test coverage gaps and proactively propose improvements to test strategies and methodologies. Failure Analysis and Technical Communication Perform failure analysis to identify failure modes, root causes, and contributing factors, and provide clear, actionable recommendations for resolution. Communicate test results, risks, and findings effectively to internal teams and domestic or international suppliers through written reports and technical discussions. Subject Matter Expertise Develop subject matter expertise for assigned products and related systems, including: Understanding product architecture and working principles Understanding intended use cases and realworld operating environments Understanding applicable industrial standards Act as a technical resource for crossfunctional teams during development, release, and postrelease support. CrossFunctional Collaboration Review Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) and provide feedback on testability, requirements clarity, and validation needs. Support investigation and resolution of customerreported issues in collaboration with the Technical Support team. Test Automation and Tooling Identify opportunities where test automation can improve efficiency, repeatability, and coverage. Design and implement hardware and software automation solutions, including: Researching practical automation approaches Writing scripts or programs using appropriate programming languages Designing or improvising test fixtures and methods when standard equipment is unavailable or impractical Lab Ownership Maintain and organize the engineering lab, including test equipment, fixtures, and documentation, to support safe, efficient, and repeatable testing. Understand workplace hazards and take steps to proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries in the workplace. Cooperate in safety programs, initiatives, and investigations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related technical field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Proficient use of personal computers and standard business software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to interpret technical standards, specifications, procedures, and drawings
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines
  • Ability to apply engineering judgment to make technical recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues
  • Ability in handling repetitive testing jobs efficiently and productively
  • Ability to work effectively in a deadlinedriven environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong organizational, planning, and attentiontodetail skills
  • High level of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AV interfaces and standards (e.g., VGA, HDMI, DisplayPort, USBC)
  • Experience with PC and mobile platforms (Windows, Linux, macOS, Android)
  • Experience with connectivity/signal extension technologies (HDBaseT, AVoIP, Networking, Optical Fiber Communications)
  • Understanding of communication protocols and interfaces (RS232, I2C, SPI, USB, UART, Ethernet, etc.)
  • Programming experience with languages such as Python, C++, or similar
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, soldering stations, etc.)
  • Experience with maker platforms or embedded environments (Raspberry Pi, Arduino, etc.)
  • Familiarity with using AI-assisted tools to accelerate learning, troubleshooting, and problem solving
