About The Position

Blue Canyon Technologies, RTX's small satellite manufacturer and mission services provider, is solving some of the toughest challenges in space. Position Purpose: The Test Engineer I has the responsibility of supporting test engineering tasks associated with the development, qualification, and acceptance testing efforts of components and/or spacecraft systems. This engineer would be working in a team environment, sometimes with remote team members, engaging in test and support of flight spacecraft electronics. Development work will span test procedure development, writing automated test scripts, test equipment design, and executing tests using aerospace standard approaches.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with general industry practices for hardware testing using oscilloscopes, multimeters and logic analyzers
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction and to be a self-starter
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 0-5 years of experience in Test Engineering or a related field
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with writing and executing manual and/or automated test procedures
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as MATLAB, Ruby (COSMOS), and/or Python or similar
  • Experience with spacecraft level system integration and test
  • Experience with embedded software
  • Experience with radiation testing of electrical components (TID, SEE, etc.)
  • Knowledge of control systems and orbital mechanics

Responsibilities

  • Work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Participate in the integration and test of components and/or spacecraft systems with the guidance of other test team members
  • Write, review, update, and implement test procedures
  • Use test and measurement equipment to perform basic tests/ troubleshooting on hardware
  • Execute, develop and modify test scripts
  • Maintain required test engineering logs and records
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule (with possible support on nights & weekends)
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department as well as other departments at the company. Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
