As a Test Design Engineer for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) located in Fargo, ND, you will complete overall test development for projects and enhance existing test systems for robust electronics intended for on/off road vehicles and harsh environments.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of full-time experience in test system development
  • 3+ years of full-time experience in LabVIEW or other NI programming languages
  • 3+ years of full-time experience with basic controls, and Data Acquisition systems (DAQ)
  • Technical experience using and understanding electronic schematics and hardware analysis software (PSpice, KiCAD, etc.)
  • Experience in statistical analysis (SPC, GR&R, Monte Carlo, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively within own team and across cross‑functional groups while completing projects
  • Experience with basic electronics hardware and systems

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of full-time experience in power electronics or power electronic sub-system testing
  • Experience with instrumentation communication protocols (i.e. CAN, Ethernet, Automotive Ethernet, RS-232, USB, Modbus, etc.)
  • NI TestStand and circuit simulation software experience
  • Electronic circuit design experience
  • Understanding of product development phases
  • Experience moving projects through the ISG tester design lifecycle process

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to requirements definition working directly with customers and other engineers. Provide proper feedback about the requirements.
  • Contribute to innovative HW/SW testing architectures and designs for challenging problems with minimal guidance from more senior engineers.
  • Contribute to analysis and make recommendations and tester design decisions based on results with minimal guidance from more senior engineers.
  • Develop tester automation and unit monitoring code using LabVIEW development practices and tools. Drive improvements to eliminate tool suite set up problems and solve integration issues that involve multiple code modules, code bases, and/or multiple developers.
  • Perform unit, integration, and systems verification and validation testing using HW/SW tools. Drive process and consistency in test system architecture and code reviews.
  • Review documentation produced during the Product Development Lifecycle that is generated by other engineering groups.
  • Work closely with other project team members as needed to ensure the final combined product has compatible software, electronic hardware, and mechanical hardware which functions properly together and performs at levels specified in the test requirement or specifications.
