About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic Test Configuration System Technician to join our team at Systel. You will join the Test Engineering team at Systel, which is responsible for completing tests and validation of the first article Engineering units as well as providing support to multiple departments in the organization. This critical role ensures that our rugged computer solutions meet the rigorous standards required to reliably perform mission-critical operations in harsh environments. This role reports to the Test Engineering Manager. This position is full-time onsite (in-person) at our headquarters in Sugar Land, TX. Please note that some travel may be required. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in technical field or Associate of Applied Science in Electrical Design or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience in a technical field related to computer hardware or systems testing.
  • Competency with Linux Shell, Python, and hardware test tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills and work ethics.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • US Citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with industry standards and certifications relevant to rugged computing and military specifications.is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze Prototype Design: The Specialist will sort through prototype requirements and specifications and make recommendations to ensure that a prototype assembly will perform to function. When compatibility issues arrive, the Specialist will drive the resolution of any concerns or issues with the design, in collaboration with Mechanical and Electrical Engineers when necessary.
  • Develop Test Plan: The Specialist is responsible for drafting all documentation required to validate the prototype and all subsequent units produced by production. The Specialist should be thorough with a keen eye for details as minor defects could prove to be mission critical.
  • Support Test Software: The Specialist should have the ability to debug and create test script/software in support of the validation process. Basic knowledge of Linux Shell and Python programming will be used on a daily basis.
  • Perform Prototype Validation: The Specialist will perform validation on prototype units, from pre-assembly to post-assembly. The Specialist will ensure that all required functionalities are met by the prototype. Stringent documentation will be required as part of standard procedures and the Specialist will comply with all document approval processes.
  • Effectively Communicate: The Specialist will be able to clearly communicate all aspects of the validation process when requested. This includes any concerns from customers or stakeholders.
  • Technical Product Support: The Specialist will be responsible for supporting the product after the prototype lifecycle, whether that be on the production floor or after product delivery. Traveling to the customers’ facilities may be occasionally necessary.
