Sev1Tech is seeking a skilled Test Automation Engineer to join our team supporting our DHS customer’s software functionality, reliability, and requirements satisfaction. The successful candidate will work closely with the development team to understand the project’s objectives and requirements and design test cases. They will be responsible for assessing software quality through manual and automated testing and identify and report on any failures.

  • Develop and execute test plans for software applications, identify and document defects, and work with the development team to resolve issues.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to define and validate software requirements, functional specifications, and user stories.
  • Utilize common CI/CD software testing tools such as Selenium, Nightwatch, Cypress, or GitLab to assist in the testing process.
  • Develop and maintain test cases and test scripts and execute them through automated testing tools as needed for unit, integration, functional, 508, performance and security testing.
  • Test software applications across multiple devices and platforms, including mobile and web, and ensure each application meets its design requirements.
  • Perform regression, smoke, and exploratory testing to ensure any bug fixes do not break existing functionality.
  • Collaborate with the development team to review and update software documentation, including test plans, test cases, and user manuals.
  • Analyze and report overall test coverage and quality metrics, including identification of opportunities for process improvement.
  • Keep up to date with evolving testing procedures, tools, and methodologies to incorporate and continuously improve testing protocols.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software testing, preferably in Quality Assurance or related role.
  • Strong experience in designing and executing test plans and documenting test results.
  • Experience working with AWS native tools and environments.
  • Experience working with web technologies, JavaScript, JSON, jQuery, HTML, CSS, and database tools including Liquibase, Flyway, ElasticSearch, Solr/Lucene, PostgreSQL.
  • Experience deploying microservices in Kubernetes platforms (OpenShift, EKS, AKS).
  • Experience with SAML and IdPs.
  • Experience with Jenkins CI/CD tools and DevOps automation.
  • Experience with developing test cases for Automated Test-Driven Deployment.
  • Experience with asynchronous messaging tools (Kafka).
  • Experience and familiarity with software testing tools such as Selenium.
  • Knowledge of agile framework methodologies, including Scrum or Lean
  • Experience with Jira as a Scrum management tool.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience conducting exploratory and performance testing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to document test plans and results with precision and clarity.
  • Must abe able to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship in order to obtain a DHS clearance
  • Must be able to work on-site in Arlington 1-2 days per week
  • This is a full-time position.
  • Clearance Preference: DHS EOD - 1st priority
  • Any DHS badge + DoD Top Secret or Secret - 2nd choice
  • DoD Secret or Top Secret + willingness to get EOD clearance - 3rd choice (it can take 45 days to obtain EOD clearance – work can only begin once the clearance is fully adjudicated)
