Medtronic's Acute Care & Monitoring (ACM) business works together with the global healthcare community to solve clinically meaningful problems, with technologies and solutions for blood oxygen management, respiratory compromise, and perioperative complications. Our vision is to empower patient safety - anytime, anywhere. We are hiring a Test Architect to define and lead comprehensive testing strategy for our legacy monitoring devices. This role is responsible for ensuring robust, purposeful software testing across multiple projects and guiding the long-term strategy for both manual and automated test approaches. You will partner closely with test engineers, software architects, product owners, and developers to ensure requirements are understood, testable, and verifiable. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR Masters degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR PhD with 0 years relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong experience in software testing, including test strategy, test planning, and requirements‑based verification.
  • Proven experience in translating requirements into testable elements.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners across software, systems, and product teams.
  • Experience determining automation feasibility and understanding both manual and automated testing workflows
  • Experience in the medical device industry, or regulated industry with high reliability or safety critical requirements (defense, aerospace, etc).
  • Biomedical engineering or software engineering degree.
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Understanding of database structures and how applications interact with underlying data.
  • Prior experience testing software products tied to hardware or medical devices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop holistic test strategies for new features, enhancements, and sustaining engineering work.
  • Translate user needs and formal requirements into structured, comprehensive test plans.
  • Determine which test cases should be automated vs. executed manually based on complexity, frequency, cost, and strategic value.
  • Collaborate closely with manual testers and automation engineers, delegating work and setting expectations for execution.
  • Partner with software architects and product owners to understand system design and ensure effective coverage.
  • Help harmonize testing methodologies and best practices across multiple projects within the organization.
  • Provide technical project leadership, coaching, and guidance across test engineering teams
