About The Position

EF Academy New York is seeking a dynamic TESOL Teacher / Coordinator for a 12-month position that combines teaching and administrative responsibilities. The role involves teaching high school Multi-Lingual Learners (MLLs) for eight months and handling administrative tasks for four months. The ideal candidate will have experience in international education and curriculum development, contributing to the academic and operational success of the school community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching high school Multi-Lingual Learners.
  • Proficiency in developing English language curriculum and instructional materials.
  • Ability to create and implement cross-disciplinary supports for MLLs in various academic subjects.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in TESOL, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience in an international or multicultural educational setting.
  • Familiarity with boarding school life and a willingness to engage in the residential community.
  • Prior experience in curriculum evaluation, report writing, and program development.

Responsibilities

  • Teach English language acquisition and support courses to high school Multi-Lingual Learners at varying proficiency levels.
  • Develop and deliver engaging, student-centered English language curriculum tailored to support students' academic and linguistic growth.
  • Design and implement supports for MLLs in core content areas such as math, science, history, and the arts, in collaboration with subject-area teachers.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing individualized feedback and support to address learning gaps and challenges.
  • Foster an inclusive, culturally responsive classroom environment that values and celebrates linguistic and cultural diversity.
  • Develop, revise, and edit curriculum materials based on teacher and student feedback, ensuring alignment with educational goals and standards.
  • Create and present comprehensive year-end reports on program effectiveness, student progress, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Act as a liaison between departments and stakeholders, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of program structures and initiatives to enhance MLL support and overall student success.
  • Assist with other administrative tasks as needed to support the school's operations and strategic goals.
