About The Position

At Smith+Nephew, a global medical technology company, we design and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living, supporting healthcare professionals to return their patients to health and mobility. As a Territory Development Representative (TDR) in Sports Medicine, you will act as a product consultant specializing in soft tissue injury repair and degenerative conditions of the shoulder, knee, hip, and small joints. This role is part of the Sports Medicine Sales Team, working within an assigned territory and hospital accounts. The position requires a high level of technical information assimilation related to surgery and procedures. Success in this role hinges on becoming a technical expert in the Sports Medicine portfolio, building rapport with sales representatives and leadership, and fostering positive relationships with surgeons, hospital staff, and co-workers. You will collaborate with teammates to develop an effective territory business plan to generate revenue and meet/exceed quotas. The role demands a team-oriented, detail-attentive, and flexible professional willing to work untraditional hours to support the salesforce and customers. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum (2) two years sales experience in medical device industry preferred
  • Proven track record selling/converting business at the surgeon or hospital level
  • Ability to successfully complete the credentialing process and comply with the requirements of healthcare facilities, including adherence to any established vaccine protocols
  • Ability to travel within designated sales territory with 2-4 overnights a month
  • Ability to travel infrequently nationally for events and conferences

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the healthcare industry, specifically selling orthopedic products
  • Experience leading/mentoring team members and new sales representatives

Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing clinical case coverage in the operating room
  • Secure inventory for surgical cases
  • Observe and consult the surgical team on Smith+Nephew instrumentation and implants
  • Complete logistical requirements associated with surgical cases
  • Work collaboratively with Sales Reps within the territory as well as key orthopedic surgeons, hospital and OR staff, administrators, and clinicians
  • Become a technical expert in the Sports Medicine portfolio through structured trainings and assessments
  • Build rapport with the Sales Reps and leadership in the territory and region
  • Build positive relationships with surgeons, hospital staff, and co-workers to enhance access to customers
  • Develop an effective territory business plan to generate revenue and meet/exceed quota
  • Provide first-class technical support to ensure product availability meets customer and patient needs
  • Partner with all Smith+Nephew Reconstruction and Sports Medicine counterparts in the region to discover sales opportunities
