About The Position

The Terrace Restaurant Sous Chef will assist the Terrace Chef in overseeing, training, supervising, and working with all Terrace Kitchen colleagues to prepare, cook, and present food according to hotel standard recipes, creating quality food products. The position is located at The Langham Huntington, Pasadena, Los Angeles, which is situated in a vibrant area with rich historical significance and numerous attractions.

Requirements

  • Culinary college degree preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Sous Chef at a luxury hotel or restaurant.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Food Handler’s Certificate required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Executive Chef in the direction and oversight of all culinary operations.
  • Prepare and produce all restaurant meals, ensuring food quality and presentation.
  • Maintain compliance with state sanitation/health regulations and hotel requirements.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and use of kitchen equipment.
  • Meet with the Terrace Restaurant Chef to review assignments and business levels.
  • Document attendance and coordinate breaks for assigned staff.
  • Complete opening duties including inspecting cleanliness and working conditions of tools and equipment.
  • Monitor performance of assigned staff and ensure adherence to departmental standards.
  • Assist staff to ensure optimum service to guests.
  • Maintain proper storage procedures as specified by Health Department and hotel requirements.
  • Assist with inventories as scheduled.
