Requirements

  • Good hands-on knowledge of bulk material handling.
  • Proficient in technical details of barges and truck shipping, plant and regional capabilities, and customer quality needs.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical maintenance and ability to operate and perform basic maintenance on equipment.
  • Ability to operate onsite equipment such as excavators, forklifts, and loaders.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge of facility maintenance.
  • Self-directed with the ability to manage daily and weekly schedules.
  • Ability to plan and direct the work of personnel and train an effective workforce.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous SAP knowledge.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience.
  • Five plus years of previous Leadperson or Team Lead experience.
  • Previous mining/mineral processing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage terminal activities of safely unloading barges and trucks into conveying bulk storage.
  • Manage terminal activities of receiving, storing, and shipping lime.
  • Manage terminal activities of producing, storing, and shipping lime slurry.
  • Ensure safety and environmental performance.
  • Provide service and quality to customers.
  • Develop effective and efficient production schedules and inventory management.
  • Promote safety awareness and compliance.
  • Complete area safety inspections and record incidents in a timely manner.
  • Conduct mandatory safety stand downs and maintain visual presence in the assigned work area.
  • Interface with the sales team to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Manage cost performance of the terminal with the Regional Terminal Manager.
  • Establish and adhere to the operating budget by managing day-to-day purchases and activities.
  • Select and develop hourly personnel for required labor and general maintenance.
  • Evaluate, prepare, and review quarterly performance reports.
  • Maintain facility efficiency and orderliness.
  • Set and achieve aggressive Continuous Improvement goals in Key Process Indicators (KPIs).
  • Provide regular interface with customers for product flow planning.
  • Maintain close working relationships with trucking contractors.
  • Interact effectively with customers, transportation vendors, and sales.
  • Coordinate product flow with the Alabama shipping department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
