The Terminal Operator position at Petroleum Fuel & Terminal Company involves managing the operational activities related to the transfer of petroleum products at the Chickasaw, Alabama terminal. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while maintaining the safety and efficiency of terminal operations.

  • Operate pumps, valves, blenders, and automated loading systems to load and unload products from various containers.
  • Instruct and assist truck drivers in using the scale and automated loading system.
  • Line up tanks and pipelines for product deliveries and distributions.
  • Measure and gather samples of petroleum products.
  • Perform cleaning, preventive, and regular maintenance duties at the terminal.
  • Coordinate product delivery with customers, truck drivers, and barges.
  • Operate forklifts, tractors, trucks, man-lifts, and various hand tools.
  • Serve as a member of the emergency response team.
  • Follow established company policies and procedures in accordance with environmental, health, and safety rules.
  • Perform recordkeeping duties related to the storage and transfer of products.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime, and be on call as needed.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, squat, climb ladders and stairs, and work in elevated areas, around water, and on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions and wear personal protective equipment as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to respond quickly to stressful emergency situations.
  • Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within 30 days of hire.
  • Must complete company HazMat training, safety awareness training, and any related certifications as required.
  • Accurate measuring and calculating of products.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn equipment operation including forklifts, tractors, trucks, or man-lifts.
  • Ability to use various hand tools and gauges, such as thermometers and digital probes.
  • Mechanical skills and aptitude.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
