The operator will be responsible for daily operational duties including manual loading and unloading of tank-cars, tank-trucks, ocean-going tankers, tank-to-tank transfers, and blending operations. All operations must be conducted in a safe and diligent manner. The operator will monitor products for quality as required by the customer and manually operate valves on tanks and/or pump valves during normal operating conditions. Responsibilities include opening and closing tank fill line valves prior to and after each delivery on storage tanks, which may involve either manually operated or motorized equipment. The operator will start and stop pumps at the terminal, check above ground tanks for storage capacity, sample both incoming and outgoing products, and calculate/monitor storage capacity on tankage. Additional duties include installing or removing man-ways, blind-flanges, portable hoses, pipe, and pumps as required, operating a forklift once OSHA training requirements are fulfilled, and maintaining a written list of shift activities and accomplishments. The operator will also inspect the entire tank farm, pumping and receiving equipment, and loading racks during each shift to identify any operational problems, complete associated shift documentation, and monitor loading rack operation through the use of telephone and/or cameras. Troubleshooting of loading rack pumps and motors, inspecting equipment for excessive seal leakage, noise, and proper oil levels, and notifying the supervisor of equipment abnormalities or failures are also part of the role. The operator will perform housekeeping activities, operate company vehicles for errands, and complete all required training in a timely manner. The position requires weighing tank-trucks in and out, completing scale tickets and bills of lading, and adhering to house rules at all times.
