About The Position

The Terminal Operator at Richmond Terminal will perform daily operational duties including manual loading and unloading of tank-cars, tank-trucks, ocean-going tankers, tank-to-tank transfers, and blending operations. All operations must be conducted in a safe and diligent manner. The operator will monitor products for quality as required by the customer, manually operate valves on tanks and/or pump valves during normal operating conditions, and check above ground tanks for storage capacity. The role involves sampling both incoming and outgoing products, calculating and monitoring storage capacity, and performing various maintenance and inspection tasks. Operators will also be responsible for maintaining a written list of shift activities and accomplishments, and will be required to operate a forklift once OSHA training requirements are fulfilled. The position requires adherence to safety protocols and completion of training requirements as specified in the annual training manual.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Satisfactory driving record and a current, valid State driver's license.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
  • Some computer application skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to take direction from managers and keep required work schedules.
  • Organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Experience in a similar operational role.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations in the petroleum industry.

Responsibilities

  • Manually load and unload tank-cars, tank-trucks, and ocean-going tankers.
  • Conduct tank-to-tank transfers and blending operations.
  • Monitor product quality as required by customers.
  • Manually operate valves on tanks and pump valves.
  • Check above ground tanks for storage capacity.
  • Sample incoming and outgoing products.
  • Calculate and monitor storage capacity.
  • Install or remove man-ways, blind-flanges, portable hoses, pipe, and pumps.
  • Operate forklift after fulfilling OSHA training requirements.
  • Maintain a written list of shift activities and accomplishments.
  • Inspect tank farm, pumping and receiving equipment, and loading racks.
  • Troubleshoot loading rack pumps and motors.
  • Notify supervisor of equipment abnormalities or failures.
  • Perform housekeeping activities and maintenance tasks.
  • Operate company vehicle for errands and transport of equipment.
