About The Position

The Terminal Manager directs all activities necessary to operate a warehouse and container freight station at maximum efficiency, ensure the timely and accurate loading and unloading of commodities that transit the warehouse as well as oversee all resources and material related to local facility management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus some related college-level coursework required.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and coursework preferred.
  • Valid state issued driver license, acceptable driving record required.
  • Forklift certification within 30 days of hire required.
  • 5+ years of related experience in warehouse operations, with 2+ years of experience managing the function required.
  • Experience creating and successfully managing to a budget required.
  • Understanding of basic principles of container freight station and warehouse operations.
  • Ability to effectively use knowledge of best practices to mentor and develop staff and in collaboration with others, to drive sound business decisions.
  • Ability to set and achieve individual and departmental goals consistent with, and supportive of the immediate department and overall goals of the organization.
  • Ability to manage and deliver on multiple competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced environment, prioritize projects and deliverables, and interact effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Good quantitative and analytical thinking skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Demonstrated basic proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Must be able to operate forklift.

Responsibilities

  • Containers and ARC freight are conveyed to warehouse within required timeframes; outbound freight is correctly loaded out.
  • Accurate inventory and shipment data is captured and maintained in operations systems, including detail relating to misships, short ships, and load out.
  • Effectively supervise staff in alignment with Pasha's values and business requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, quality system standards, and Pasha's policies.
  • Operations execution meets or exceeds KPI and financial targets.
  • Works in conjunction with the PTL Dispatcher, sales, customs, finance, registration personnel and staff to ensure operational efficiency, safety and control are maintained and subject to continuous improvement.
  • Leads and promotes the Company's vision with regards to people, quality, customer service, financials, safety and facilities.
  • Determines work schedules and assigns areas of responsibility to warehouse personnel adjusting as needed to cover fluctuations in volume, employee absences, and other changes as they occur.
  • Establishes and controls cargo handling and storage plans and procedures.
  • Establishes requirements for and controls direct and contract labor scheduling and resource changes based on performance and facility volumes.
  • Develops and manages annual cost budget as it relates to variable and fixed costs for the terminal.
  • Proactively solves customer problems and communicates effectively with clients.
  • Coordinates with Safety department to maintain complete and accurate records of DOT driver's activities and compliance standards.
  • Responsible for inventory control procedures related to the facility.
  • Maintains complete and accurate OSHA records and complies with all OSHA standards.
  • Insures the security and proper management of the equipment and materials received and stored.
  • Maintains maintenance compliance for forklifts and moving equipment for proper functioning.
  • Responsible for scheduling maintenance and emergency repairs on equipment and vehicles, authorizing all related costs and maintaining supporting records.
  • Leads and manages container and shuttle dispatching functions and ensures KPIs are met.
  • Creates and/or recommends best practices related to departmental process flows.
  • Mentors and develops terminal team members for future roles within the company and for vacation and absence coverage.
  • Oversees receiving and verification of freight against receiving documentation, noting discrepancies and/or damage and report findings.
  • Provides direction and guidance to staff on the Company's and department's vision, policies and procedures.
  • Reviews and approves all related departmental vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Tracks and provides management reporting on key metrics. Meets all requisite metrics.
  • Follows safety regulations and holds monthly safety meetings.
  • Streamlines terminal operating procedures by identifying and eliminating redundant processes.
  • Actively recruits and retains local drayage and delivery drivers.
  • Trains and retains warehouse and support staff. Maintains acceptable retention rate.
  • Ensures that vendor bills are processed in the month that the services is utilized.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Salary range: $63,000 - $78,500 based on geographic zone.
