The Terminal Manager at K.L. The Terminal Manager also oversees budgeting, recruitment, and training, while enforcing company policies and addressing employee concerns.

  • Directly supervise all terminal management staff.
  • Administer contracts with owner operators, third-party carriers, and other vendors.
  • Coordinate delivery of transportation services to customers and maintain professional relationships with customer representatives.
  • Assist in the development and administration of the terminal operations budget.
  • Oversee capital investments in terminal facilities and equipment.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures.
  • Counsel and administer discipline to employees with HR's concurrence.
  • Oversee recruitment, orientation, and training of employees and owner operators.
  • Investigate and adjust concerns and complaints from employees, owner operators, customers, or suppliers.
  • Coordinate information flow between the terminal and corporate departments.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations impacting terminal operations.
  • Monitor and maintain adequate staffing levels for timely delivery of services.
  • Recruit qualified owner operators and enforce contractual provisions and safety requirements.
  • Attend meetings with customer representatives to discuss load flow and problem-solving.
  • Monitor the dependability, cost, and quality of service of third-party carriers.
  • Work with the Safety Department to address safety problems and ensure training compliance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of employee personnel and benefit information.
  • Submit required corporate and customer reports accurately and on time.
  • Oversee the protection and maintenance of terminal property and equipment.
  • Enforce rules of conduct, safety, and attendance for terminal staff.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and recommend promotions and salary increases.
  • Train and mentor subordinates for promotional opportunities.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; high school diploma or GED required.
  • 5 or more years of trucking or related transportation logistics management experience.
  • Valid driver's license and personal vehicle suitable for business usage.
  • Supervisory experience dealing with employees with varied skill sets.
  • Customer service experience, preferably in time-sensitive delivery.
  • Knowledge of warehouse and distribution operations.
  • Experience using computerized accounting, billing, inventory, HR, and regulatory compliance software.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in transportation planning and warehouse management.
