About The Position

The Buncombe County Sheriff's department is looking for someone to fill the role of an Administrator of TAC (Terminal Agency Coordinator) who is the assigned contact person as required by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This position is responsible for the coordination of the Sheriffs Office National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and ensuring compliance with State and NCIC policies and regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three (3) years of experience in secretarial/clerical work preferably in a public safety or law enforcement setting.
  • Must possess and maintain valid Terminal Operator certification provided by SBI/CIIS or obtain within 6 months of employment.
  • Valid North Carolina Driver's License.

  • Knowledgeable of state, NCIC, and NLETS policies, procedure, and requirements.
  • Knowledge of operation of personal computers and accompanying technology including, but not limited to, monitors, desktop computers, printers, and other external devices.
  • Knowledge of modem office practices and of forms and technology used in the preparation of office records using Microsoft Office applications and Document Management software.
  • Knowledge of public safety rules, regulations, and terminology.
  • Knowledge of the Open Records Act.
  • Knowledge of personnel laws and County and Sheriffs Office personnel procedures.
  • Skill in collecting and analyzing data.
  • Skill in conducting group and individual training.
  • Ability to prepare clear and comprehensive reports.
  • Ability and knowledge to secure, protect, maintain, and properly disseminate various pieces of confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the onsite expert in policy and procedures; ensure that policies are adhered to by all agency personnel; report compliance issues within the Agency.
  • Manage user accounts and ensure agency users meet minimum screening requirements and complete training and certifications.
  • Ensure records are keyed according to guidelines and data is accurate, complete and entered in a timely manner.
  • Complete, prepare, and/or process a variety of forms, documents, requests, reports, routine correspondence, and other documentation associated with the daily routine of this position; maintain accurate files, logs and administrative records.
  • Assist in completing and submitting documentation; participate in audits as needed.
  • Serve as the liaison with the State Bureau of investigations (SBI).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
