About The Position

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for one or more full-time tenure-track faculty positions in Statistics at the rank of Assistant Professor to start on September 1, 2026. Higher ranks may be considered for well-qualified candidates; however, preference will be given to Assistant professor rank. Candidates from all fields of statistics are invited to apply. Preference will be given to applicants actively engaged in interdisciplinary research with an established track record and/or potential for high-quality research. The successful candidate will be expected to publish in scholarly journals, initiate and participate in funded research programs and contribute to the teaching mission of the department. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees as well as an interdisciplinary Computational Mathematics Doctorate degree with the Computer Science department. Within statistics, we offer a BS degree in Statistics and a BA degree in Actuarial Studies, along with an MS degree in Probability & Statistics. The department has a diverse group of faculty members actively engaged in research, some working in collaboration with computer science, engineering, business and public health, both within and outside of the university.
