About The Position

Our CACREP-accredited Counselor Education Program emphasizes inclusivity, diversity, and social justice advocacy. We focus on experiential learning, personal growth, and professional development through a relational approach. Our dedicated faculty mentors students in community leadership roles. This is a full-time in-person tenure track position at the Assistant Professor rank beginning in the Fall 2025 semester. Salary is dependent upon qualifications and professional experience. The faculty member selected for this position is housed in the Graduate and Professional Studies branch in the College of Education. Courses may meet in the morning, late afternoon, or evening. We are an on-ground, and in-person, program.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program is required
  • Currently licensed as a Counselor in California or eligible for licensure in California (LPCC) within a year
  • Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence and scholarly activity at the university level
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse academic environment
  • Experience with inclusive, anti-racist practices, social justice, and equity work within research, presentations, counseling, or student interactions
  • A strong Counselor Education identity as evidenced by professional practice, active participation in counseling professional organizations, and research

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in clinical and community settings
  • Experience in addiction counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical mental health counseling, and professional memberships in relevant organizations
  • Experience in graduate-level instruction, supervision, mentoring, and research-related activities
  • Specialized knowledge or experience in a range of counseling areas including individual and group counseling, addiction and substance use, multicultural counseling, collaborative consultation, assessment, grant writing, systems theories, addiction counseling, crisis/trauma counseling, and supervision
  • Experience with CACREP and/or statewide accreditation processes, as well as familiarity with licensing and licensing boards
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Attend faculty meetings, serve on various committees, and engage in scholarly and community service activities
