About The Position

The Department of Physics and Optical Engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is seeking a tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant Professor level to support the NanoEngineering degree program starting in August 2025. The role emphasizes excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring, with a focus on engaging students from traditionally underrepresented groups. The successful candidate will contribute to the department's mission by teaching, advising students, and participating in professional development and service activities.

Requirements

• Ph.D. degree in engineering by the time of appointment.
• Evidence of, or demonstrated potential for, excellence in undergraduate teaching.
• Degree focusing on semiconductors, microfabrication, nanotechnology, or materials engineering is preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in teaching courses related to semiconductor devices, nanotechnology, MEMS, and silicon photonics.
• Ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Teach approximately 12 credits/15 contact hours per term.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate students.
• Engage in continued professional development.
• Provide service to the department, Institute, and professional communities.
• Teach introductory physics courses and labs, as well as upper division courses in nanoengineering, including lab courses in the cleanroom.
• Develop and teach upper-level electives in their area of expertise.
