The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Bradley University is accepting applications for an open-rank tenure-track faculty position. The department seeks applicants ready to teach fundamental ME courses and to engage in our outreach focus areas with students in SAE Formula or Baja, FIRST or VEX Robotics, Lunabotics, Model Rocketry, or ECO Marathon. Experience participating on or mentoring competition teams is desirable. Research specializations in any area of ME will be considered. We have facilities for manufacturing, engine, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, robotics, materials, biomedical and microgravity research. As part of the KEEN network, we offer faculty development in teaching with an entrepreneurial mindset. Special attention will be given to candidates with capstone teaching experience, industrial and/or other teaching experience as well as candidates with a strong experimental background. Experience in teaching freshmen, experience in mentoring students, and laboratory expertise will be valuable. The successful candidate is expected to have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and undergraduate instructional laboratories, and excellent communication skills. Applicants with an earned PhD in mechanical engineering by the start date are desired. Applicants may have an earned master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field with a plan to complete the degree within 1 year of the start date. Rank will be determined based on applicant qualifications. Applicant must have a willingness to teach online courses.
