About The Position

The Institute for STEM Education and the Coulter School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Clarkson University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor Faculty position with a background in Engineering Education starting on August 1, 2026. The Institute for STEM Education focuses on pedagogical research and has an especially strong tradition of collaborative work with other departments and with faculty across the university. The Institute is looking to grow research capacity in the area of Engineering Education in support of educational development and assessment efforts in the Coulter School. The successful candidate will be appointed to the Institute for STEM Education (possibly) with a joint appointment to an appropriate engineering department. Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Engineering Education, a record of publication and/or research experience in Engineering Education, potential to obtain external research funding and an ability to teach within an engineering discipline.
  • Candidates near completion of their Ph.D. will be considered with the expectation that the Ph.D. will be earned by/prior to Fall 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a vibrant externally funded collaborative engineering education focused research program; develop scholarly collaborations with Clarkson faculty and external collaborators; engage and mentor graduate and undergraduate students in scholarly activities.
  • Teach first-year engineering courses and assist in future re-design of the first year engineering curriculum; teach other discipline specific undergraduate and graduate courses which may include technical or educational focused classes.
  • Advise and mentor students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Perform service at Institute, School, University and professional levels.
