About The Position

The Department of History at the University of North Alabama invites applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor in the history of the medieval world (500-1500) to begin August 2026. We are particularly interested in those with research and/or teaching experience in science, medicine, and technology. Any geographic specialization is welcome to apply. Teaching responsibilities will include survey courses in world history, medieval history, as well as advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate's area of specialty. Review of applications will begin November 1, 2025 and continue until the position has been filled.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in History at the time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching.
  • Active research agenda.
  • Teaching and research experience in science, medicine, and technology.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in teaching survey courses.
  • Experience in developing advanced courses.

Responsibilities
