About The Position

The University of South Dakota is seeking a Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Life Cycle Assessment within the Department of Sustainability & Environment. This full-time, in-person position is aimed at candidates who will contribute to both teaching and research in sustainability, particularly focusing on life cycle assessment. The role involves developing new courses and engaging in research that trains graduate students in sustainability.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in engineering, sustainability, environmental science, or related field at the time of appointment
  • Educational and research background in life cycle assessment
  • Educational and/or research background suitable to teach data-focused elective courses in computer science (e.g. applied courses in data science, data mining, machine learning, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Postdoctoral research experience

Responsibilities

  • Teach at the undergraduate and graduate level
  • Establish a productive and extramurally funded research program that actively trains M.S. and Ph.D. Sustainability students
  • Develop a new course in life cycle assessment
  • Teach other existing courses in the undergraduate and graduate Sustainability programs
  • Teach data-focused elective courses for the Department of Computer Sciences, as needed
