About The Position

The Department of Psychological Science at Northern Kentucky University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology beginning August 2026. Candidates should be strongly committed to teaching at the undergraduate level, engaging undergraduates in research, and applying rigorous scientific principles to clinical or counseling psychology. Departmental scholarly interests span clinical, developmental, health, social, cognitive, and I-O psychology, along with neuroscience and psychopharmacology. Requirements

  • A Ph.D. from an APA-accredited clinical or counseling psychology program by August 1, 2026, is required.
  • Candidates should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching statement, research statement including a plan for incorporating undergraduate students, up to three reprints/preprints, and names and email addresses of three references.
  • Candidates with teaching experience should also submit evidence of teaching proficiency (e.g., teaching evaluations, example syllabi, etc.).
  • The cover letter and teaching statement should show, as a faculty member at NKU, how the candidate will contribute to our core values and our strategic framework, especially in how the candidate will contribute to student success and belonging.

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will teach undergraduate in-person classes, as well as courses offered for our online BA program.
  • In-person and online courses will include Abnormal Psychology and a specialty course aligned with the candidate's expertise.
  • Teaching expectations may also include Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods and Lab, and Psychological Tests and Measures.
  • The successful candidate will also maintain an active, peer-reviewed research agenda consistent with the department's emphasis on scientific rigor.
