About The Position

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Hartford is seeking to fill a tenure-track assistant professor position in Computer Engineering with a focus on Embedded Systems and their application to Internet of Things beginning August 2026. Candidates are expected to have a doctoral degree, excellent potential and dedication to teaching, research, service, and professional activities.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in Computer Engineering or related discipline is required; ABDs will be considered providing the candidate documents a degree completion date.

  • Experience teaching computer engineering or related engineering disciplines at the undergraduate level.
  • Demonstrated potential to build an independent research program related to embedded systems and their application to Internet of Things that includes undergraduate students.

  • Experience and/or demonstrated interest in student recruitment, retention, and career preparation.

Responsibilities

  • The successful applicant will ordinarily teach three courses per semester in engineering and engineering technology related to computer engineering, which may change based on departmental needs.
  • There may also be opportunities to teach our innovative general education and interdisciplinary courses.
  • An active scholarly research agenda with peer-reviewed publications, presentations, or other professional accomplishments are expected for successful tenure and promotion.
  • Service to the department, college, and university typically includes advising students, contributing to student recruitment and retention, advising student capstone projects, and participating in program accreditation.
