About The Position

The Department of Graduate Psychology in the College of Health and Behavioral Studies (CHBS) at James Madison University is seeking a neuropsychologist to join our collegial and collaborative faculty in August, 2026. This 10-month tenure track faculty position will be filled at the assistant rank, with salary commensurate with experience. Candidates should demonstrate promise in teaching and scholarship, with interest in potential grant development. We are especially interested in an individual who makes neuroscience and neuropsychology findings accessible across disciplines, professionals, and clinical populations. This is not a remote position. Applicants must be available for on-campus activities on multiple days throughout the week during the 10-month contract period.

Requirements

  • The successful applicant will possess a doctorate from an APA-accredited program in Clinical, Counseling, School, or Combined-Integrated Psychology
  • Formal training in neuropsychology during internship or post-doctoral training and/or certification by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP)
  • Licensure in Virginia or license-eligible with ability to obtain licensure in Virginia by the start date.

  • Clinical experience across the lifespan, particularly with children and adolescents, is desired.

  • Teach innovative and applied graduate courses in neuropsychology and related areas (e.g., psychopharmacology, assessment, neurotrauma, etc.)
  • Emerging scholarly productivity, such as peer-reviewed publications, presentations at academic conferences, collaborative projects, and interest in securing grant funding.
  • Evidence-based clinical practice across the lifespan, including children and adolescents (e.g., neuropsychological assessments, intervention, and consultative services in outpatient or inpatient settings; collaboration with multidisciplinary teams; patient and family counseling, etc.).
  • Interest and willingness to engage in professional service and outreach (e.g., reviewing for journals, participating in professional organizations, providing service to committees, collaborating with community partners, etc.).
