About The Position

The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown invites applications for a tenure-stream, full-time position at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Psychology. The area of specialization is open, but expertise or experience teaching in any of the following areas is particularly desired: Research Methods, Cognitive Psychology, and Physiological Psychology. A successful candidate will be able to aid our students in obtaining jobs within the fields of cognitive or neuropsychology, such as those in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cognitive rehabilitation. Requirements

  • Applicants are required to have a doctoral degree in Psychology or a related field by August, 2026

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred candidates will have teaching experience in higher education.
  • Preferred candidates will have experience conducting and publishing research.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities include a 12-hour teaching load per term (i.e., a 4:4 load)
  • Active research program, including the supervision of undergraduates
  • Departmental, divisional, and college-wide service activities
  • Teaching duties include Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods, Cognitive Psychology, Physiological Psychology, History and Systems, and other courses in one’s specialty area.
