About The Position

The Tennis Professional will work closely with the Director of Racquets and Racquets Operations Manager to offer the Broken Sound Club Membership an active tennis program. The Member Services teams at Broken Sound Club, in Boca Raton, FL, pride themselves in providing the highest standards of Member Satisfaction for members and their guests and ensure they receive the absolute best in personal service and support. Available on a full-time basis to offer private, semi-private, and group instruction to Broken Sound Club Members on Club property only. The Tennis Professional is responsible for: Dedicating 30% (minimum of 12 hours) per week to off-court administrative duties and facility maintenance supervision. Daily inspection of all Tennis and Pickleball courts by 7:30 a.m. to ensure playability for early morning play. Professionals must ensure courts are ready for morning play before beginning teaching schedule. Actively involved in the development and promotion of Ladies’ Leagues to the club members and promotion and implementation of all tennis events. The Women’s Team Program includes teaching team practices, observing home and away matches (minimum of 2 per week) starting from 10:45 a.m. to completion of matches, and working with team Captains on line-ups and other logistic duties. All team line-ups, roster decisions will be reviewed and approved by the Director of Racquets prior to match day. Must be knowledgeable of all Club Rules and Regulations and therefore is always willing and able to handle any situation that may come up at the Racquets facility. Must be knowledgeable of Pro Shop operations and assist retail staff and members as needed. Must be knowledgeable about clay court maintenance, including assisting the maintenance team with brush, line and water courts as needed. Must be willing to apply clay materials, and other maintenance duties when needed. Must be knowledgeable and available if needed to string and grip frames when necessary. Must be available for professional opinion and advice to members with reference to equipment, apparel and other accessories.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform the above responsibilities in a satisfactory manner.
  • Must be a tournament level tennis player and able to instruct all levels of players.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the exact stroking method of hitting a tennis ball during a lesson.
  • Four-year college degree is preferred.
  • Member of USPTA preferred and have passed any or all requirements recognized by that organization.
  • Must have several years of coaching experience at the country club level.
  • Employee must be flexible and must be able to bend over and pick up balls at an accelerated speed during and following a lesson.
  • Employees must be capable of running and hitting balls with a tennis racquet with both hands for at least five hours per day.
  • Employees must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
