About The Position

The Tennis Professional is expected to align with and support the vision, goals, and directives established by the Director of Racquet Sports. This role involves active participation in the planning and delivery of all junior tennis programming, including clinics, private lessons, events, and tournaments. The ideal candidate will have a strong playing background and teaching experience in both tennis and pickleball, demonstrate high-level pickleball proficiency with a solid understanding of techniques, skills, and game fundamentals, and possess a proven ability to organize and manage large-scale events and group activities. A professional demeanor and the ability to foster a positive, inclusive learning environment for players of all levels are essential.

Requirements

  • College degree in sports and recreation or related field preferred or equivalent work experience
  • College tennis playing experience or a NTRP 4.0 equivalent rating.
  • Three (3) or more years of tennis related work experience in resort or country club atmosphere
  • USTA Safe Play Certified
  • Highly developed communication skills.
  • Computer literate
  • Focuses on the development of our tennis program.
  • Maintain membership with United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) or Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) attending ongoing educational opportunities and workshops.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • CPR Certification

Responsibilities

  • Develop safe, professional, and comprehensive tennis lessons and programs for members and guests of all ages and skill levels.
  • Assists the Director of Racquet Sports in tennis coaching and conducts private, semi-private, group lessons and clinics for adults and juniors.
  • Greet members and guests as they enter the work area.
  • Monitor, demonstrate and teach students proper technique, etiquette, rules, and strategies for improvement.
  • Organizes and conducts junior lessons and other junior programs.
  • Assists with tennis/pickleball special events.
  • Contributes new ideas for tennis programming and summer camp.
  • Checks on the cleanliness and good operation of all equipment.
  • Reports maintenance needs per property procedure.
  • Maintains the appearance of the general surroundings of the tennis facility, tennis courts and the tennis pro shop and in a neat, clean, and professional manner.
  • Answers and responds to phone messages and e-mails in a timely manner.
  • Perform racquet stringing and gripping for members and demo racquets as needed.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Arranges and coordinates prompt billing for all events, tournaments, lessons, and clinics.
  • Available to work various hours and shifts dictated by needs of the operation.

  • Practice safety standards and report any unsafe conditions to the Director of Racquet Sports.
  • Remain alert, courteous, and helpful to members and guests always.
  • Perform other related duties as requested by the department.
  • Interface positively with other departments, helping when needed.
  • Ability to work any assigned shift / work schedule.
  • Respond to any reasonable task as assigned by the Director of Racquet Sports, Owners, the President and CEO or the Resort Manager.
