About The Position

Northline Seafoods is a growing seafood processing company looking for an experienced and motivated Tender Offload Deckhand to assist our extensive deck crew with pre-season preparations, in season operations and post-season wrap up. The position will have a heavy emphasis on crane operation foroffloading salmon from tenders in support of overall production goals. The role may be expanded to include an off-season function in the final processing of Bristol Bay salmon in Bellingham, WA. As we grow, we’re looking for an all-hands-on-deck perspective.

Nice To Haves

A minimum of 1 year experience as a deckhand with emphasis on boat tie ups, fish pumping and crane operation.
Working knowledge or the ability to quickly crane operations is essential for this role.
Knowledge of principles and methods for safely moving numerous types of cargo at sea.
Knowledge of Bristol Bay operations and servicing a large fleet of tenders and fishing boats highly preferred.
Crane and forklift experience is a must for this role.
Knowledge of appropriate use of emergency equipment located on the barge.
Ability to solve problems and make clear rational decisions in a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to work as a team with other deckhands.
Ability to complete duties with minimal supervision.
Ability to routinely work odd shifts 12+ hour shifts while occasionally working 16+ during peak season.
Positive, all-hands-on-deck attitude.

Responsibilities

Support the safe and efficient tying of tender vessels, crane operations, recordkeeping and offloading of fish from tenders.
Distribute slurry ice to tender vessels in support of Northline quality goals.
Assist with the loading, unloading and proper stowage/lashing of all cargo on the barge.
Safely and efficiently operate cranes to pump fish and move cargo to and from tenders.
Assist in tying and untying of tender vessels.
Ensure proper and safe line handling with the ability to splice lines and make slings.
Provide maintenance, repair, and basic troubleshooting of fish pumping activities.
Keep deck and storage areas clean, organized and in a safe and seaworthy condition. Support all top deck cargo movements and operations.
Assist the Freight & Net coordinator with moving and loading fisher gear.
Complete all safety training and documentation as required by local, state and federal regulations with emphasis on Coast Guard requirements.
Complete all other duties as assigned.
Support cross-department operations as a member of the Hannah and the Northline team, including assisting other departments as needed (e.g., helping with fish in production during peak periods)
