About The Position

Tenants' Right Attorney Legal Services of Greater Miami is seeking a mission-driven Staff Attorney to join our team. This role is ideal for a skilled legal professional who thrives in a collaborative, client-focused environment. The Staff Attorney provides direct legal representation and engages in systemic litigation and projects across a variety of practice areas. This position handles cases in state and federal courts at both trial and appellate levels, including litigation, administrative matters, and transactional work, depending on the assigned unit. Reporting to the Unit Director, the Staff Attorney plays a critical role in protecting client rights, advancing justice, and supporting Legal Services of Greater Miami’s mission to serve low-income communities. This role works in the Tenants' Rights unit, which assists tenants living in private, public, and subsidized housing who are facing eviction, illegal lockout, or are living with serious housing conditions. We work every day to strengthen our community and advance to a more just and equitable South Florida. What You Would Do: Conduct client interviews, assess legal issues, and recommend case acceptance. Investigate legal problems, research law, and analyze facts. Counsel clients, help define goals, and guide them through the legal process. Negotiate with opposing parties and manage cases efficiently. Engage in community education, outreach, and professional development presentations. Collaborate with attorneys, support staff, and community organizations to address client needs. Adhere to Legal Services’ policies and Florida Bar rules. Perform related duties to support overall organizational success. This role requires reliable transportation and occasional travel to evening or weekend events. This role involves extended periods of desk work and computer use. The position may occasionally require lifting and moving items weighing up to 15 pounds. Who We’re Looking For: Juris Doctor (JD) degree is required. Member of The Florida Bar, The Federal Bar, or admission within the time specified in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Minimum of one year of experience in a related field is required. Strong commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Legal Services of Greater Miami. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in word processing, email, and internet use. Able to follow directions, work independently, and manage time effectively. Collaborative team player with integrity, professionalism, and sound judgement. Skilled at working with diverse staff and clients. Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree is required.
  • Member of The Florida Bar, The Federal Bar, or admission within the time specified in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a related field is required.
