About The Position

The Temporary Telecommunications Specialist is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, operating, and maintaining voice telecommunication systems across the District. This role ensures effective, reliable, and secure communication services, overseeing the administration and support of various telecommunication systems, including PBX and VoIP systems. The specialist will also provide technical support, manage projects, and recommend new technologies to enhance the District's telecommunication capabilities.

Requirements

• An associate degree in communications, computer science, or a closely related field.
• Three years of progressively responsible experience performing telecommunication support functions.
• Knowledge of current voice communication technologies including PBX and VoIP systems.
• Ability to install, troubleshoot, maintain, and program voice system applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform specialized and technical support duties related to troubleshooting, installing, configuring, and maintaining the District's telecommunication systems.
• Install and configure telecommunications and related computer hardware, software, programs, and applications.
• Monitor servers and network equipment for response time, problem prevention, performance, and resource utilization.
• Help coordinate telecommunication development projects and provide leadership to assigned support staff.
• Assess institutional needs and recommend new technologies for the District's telecommunication network.
• Research, evaluate, and recommend equipment, tools, and utilities to improve telecommunication services.
• Support large-scale implementation of new telecommunication network processes, upgrades, and equipment rollouts.
• Prepare and update telecommunication activity logs and reports.
• Function as the primary contact for District and College technical staff on telecommunication issues.

Benefits

• Hourly wage between $39.73 - $48.87
