About The Position

Taconic Biosciences is seeking a Temporary Technician Shipping & Warehouse to join our dedicated warehouse team at our Germantown, NY site. The Starting Pay: $20.00 per hour Temporary position: This position is temporary with an approximate 4-6 week assignment The Schedule: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week. Hours are flexible, beginning between 6am-8am with ability to flex your hours during the week. The Role: Compiles records concerning ordering, receiving, storing, issuing, and shipping material, supplies, and equipment. Inspects and receives Taconic Transit Cages and loads them into delivery vehicles using specified procedures for shipping rodents, tail or blood vials, or shipping boxes and parts. Delivering items to various locations as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education (GED).
  • Proficiency MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook
  • Possesses the intermediate computer skills necessary to create excel spread sheets, and work with data.
  • Ability to use MS word & Outlook is required.

Responsibilities

  • Fills requested items
  • Use hand trucks, carts or racks to move shipments.
  • Unloads and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items and records shortages from common carriers.
  • Prepares and attaches written instructions for unpacking, storage, contents, health reports and receipt.
  • Completes special order instructions.
  • Keep records and documents of outgoing shipments.
  • Load designated trucks as per loading instructions.
  • Deliver animals from barriers to the lab by following established procedures.
  • Follow procedures for inspection, receipt and verification of containerized rodents and products according to the standard operating procedures for the loading and shipment of animals.
  • Ensure routine servicing of forklifts, pallet jacks and delivery vehicles.
  • Opens bales, crates, and other containers.
  • Marks materials with identifying information.
  • Sorts and stores perishable goods in refrigerators and/or freezer.
  • Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to instructions.
  • Reads various documents to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  • Delivering requisitioned items to areas, using aseptic procedures if required.
  • Prepares stock to be sterilized via irradiation, chlorine dioxide gas, ethylene oxide, or autoclaving.
  • Reviews files to determine unused items and recommends disposal of excess stock.
  • Prepare documents for purchasing and requisitions new or additional stock items.
  • Compiles stock control records and information to determine stock supply and need for replenishment.
  • Preforms weekly cycle counts and year physical inventories
  • Maintains shipping and receiving files
  • Maintains back-order file and releases back orders as stock becomes available.
  • Prepares orders for UPS, FedEx, or truck deliveries. This does not include live animals.
  • Compiles data from various sources and enters information into computer to maintain records.
