About The Position

The Studio Operations Associate at Berklee NYC's Power Station is responsible for providing technical support and facilitating professional recording sessions. This role involves working closely with studio staff, outside engineers, and artists to ensure high-quality audio and video production. The associate will manage complex recording setups, troubleshoot equipment, and maintain the studio facilities, all while adapting to a flexible schedule that accommodates various sessions and academic events.

Requirements

  • Degree in Audio Engineering or commensurate experience required
  • 3-5 years experience in a professional recording studio, at least 2 years as an assistant engineer
  • Advanced knowledge of analog and digital recording equipment including large format console, outboard gear, and microphones
  • Advanced knowledge of and proficiency with Pro Tools software, particularly in large format recording sessions
  • Proficiency with configuring and managing Dante audio and video networking and integration with other A/V systems preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to interact with clients in a professional and helpful manner
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills while using good judgment and maintaining professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up and breaking down large-scale and complex recording sessions
  • Troubleshooting audio equipment both digital and analog
  • Taking detailed notes and session recalls
  • Directly assisting outside engineers, producers, and artists
  • Communicating with external engineers to understand their technical preferences
  • Technical maintenance of the facility
  • Keeping track of all session media and performing backups
  • Operating Pro Tools and other software for clients
  • Facilitating communication between clients and studio management
  • Supporting all client requests, including scouting visits and tours.
