The American Heart Association is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Part-Time, Temporary Staff Accountant to join our Southeast Region team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization while gaining valuable experience in nonprofit financial operations. Reporting directly to the VP of Business Accounting for the Southeast Region, the Part-Time, Temporary Staff Accountant will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting regional accounting initiatives. Requirements

  • Typically requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting or relevant work experience.
  • Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and FASB standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Nonprofit experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily accounting operations, including general ledger activities, and assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare weekly market reconciliations and promptly investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist in the preparation of journal entries in alignment with general ledger close deadlines and region-wide accounting requirements.
  • Gain hands-on experience in core financial processes within a nonprofit environment.
