About The Position

We want YOU here! The Temporary Special Education Support Assistant provides direct support to students with disabilities under the supervision and direction of a certified Special Education Teacher. This position assists in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), supports student learning and behavior goals, and helps create a safe, inclusive, and structured classroom environment. Staff filling these roles must work 4 to 5 days each week for the duration of the assignment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Ability to follow directions, communicate effectively, and work as part of a team.
Patience, flexibility, and a commitment to supporting all learners.
Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in challenging situations.
Approval as a substitute teacher and completed substitute teacher training.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide instructional support to students as directed by the Special Education Teacher.
Assist students with academic tasks, behavioral strategies, communication, and social skills.
Support students in general education classrooms, special education settings, or other assigned areas.
Monitor and redirect student behavior using strategies provided by the supervising teacher.
Assist students with daily living skills, mobility, feeding, hygiene, and toileting needs as necessary.
Prepare materials and adapt classroom activities to meet individual student needs.
Maintain confidentiality of student information at all times.
Collect and record student data as directed for progress monitoring purposes.
Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development as required.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Special Education Teacher or building administration.
