The City of Kirkland's Public Works Department is seeking to fill one limited-term, full time position - either Temporary Project Engineer or Temporary Senior Capital Projects Coordinator. We encourage you to review both job postings carefully and apply for the position that best aligns with your experience and qualifications. Please note that submitting an application for either position will place you in the candidate pool for both opportunities. The Senior Capital Projects Coordinator performs advanced engineering, architecture, construction management and project management responsibilities. This senior-level professional position plans, budgets, and schedules all aspects of more complex, and/or highly visible capital improvement and other City Funded/sponsored projects; administers consultant contracts; coordinates design reviews, environmental reviews, coordinates property and permit acquisition; coordinates building and contract awards; oversees construction management teams; and monitors project closeouts. Distinguishing Characteristics: This class is distinguished from the Capital Projects Coordinator by the complexity, controversial nature, and/or high visibility of the type of assigned projects. Projects assigned at this level generally have City Manager, Council, and/or significant public interest, and project budgets tend to be larger than most capital projects. The Senior Capital Projects Coordinator is a resource to their peers and is considered a technical expert. Upon demonstrating that they have obtained a Professional Engineer license, an employee in the Senior Capital Projects Coordinator classification will progress to the Project Engineer classification.
