As the leader of the health care team, provides professional nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures. Demonstrates performance consistent with the Medical Center Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan of the organization. Remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats co-workers, patients, families, and all members of the health care team with dignity and respect.

  • Ensures plan shows multidisciplinary planning, consultation, and education.
  • Monitors the patients progress based on the plan and revises it as necessary.
  • Ensures effective development and completion of discharge plan including patient/family education.
  • Ensures patient safety related to medications and procedures.
  • Ensures optimal pain control and patient comfort.
  • Charts accurately, legibly, dated, and timed.
  • Discusses patient findings and progress toward outcomes with physicians and other members of the health care team.
  • Participates in departmental performance improvement activities.
  • Adheres to LMP Workplace Safety principles and practices.
  • Practices customer service standards as defined by the Service Area, Medical Center, and specified department.
  • Maintains and protects patient confidentiality.
  • Provides an optimal patient care experience by actively listening to the needs of patients and family members.
  • Acts as a resource, preceptor, and mentor to new employees, registry, students, and other team members.
  • Participates with the assessment of current and future unit learning needs.
  • Organizes work to minimize the use of overtime.
  • Minimum one (1) year (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in Critical Care, or successful completion of a KP-approved Critical Care course within prior 12 months.
  • Completion of RN Program.
  • Registered Nurse License (California).
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Temporary seasonal position with a commitment duration of 5 months from date of hire.
  • Full-time or part-time non-benefited position.
  • Required to work every other weekend and some holidays.
