About The Position

The Recreation Assistant positions are part of the recreation series, with varying levels of responsibility and supervision. The positions include Recreation Assistant I, II, and III, each requiring different qualifications and experience. The roles involve supporting recreational programs, supervising activities, and ensuring safety during events. The positions are open to applicants aged 16 and older for the entry-level role, while the mid-level and highest-level roles require applicants to be 18 years or older.

Requirements

• Eighth grade graduate for Recreation Assistant I.
• High school graduate or G.E.D. for Recreation Assistant II and III.
• Previous experience working with recreation programs preferred for Recreation Assistant I.
• Previous field/tournament experience desired for Recreation Assistant II.
• Previous facility, recreational/sport programming and/or tournament experience desired for Recreation Assistant III.
• Must have ability to work indoors & outdoors.
• Must possess valid driver's license for Recreation Assistant II and III.
• This is a non-driving position for Recreation Assistant I.

Nice To Haves

• College graduate preferred for Recreation Assistant III.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of tasks in support of programs.
• Monitors & assists with the supervision of individual programs, team sports, & activities.
• Responsible for event set-up & execution.
• Performs customer service & miscellaneous office duties.
• Administers basic first aid, if needed.
• Responds in emergency situations within scope of training.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
• Assists in leading other workers.
• Performs activities related to the organization, direction, maintenance, & supervision of recreational programs.

Benefits

• Pay for Recreation Assistant I: $11.00-13.00/hr. DOQ
• Pay for Recreation Assistant II: $12.13-14.13/hr. DOQ
• Pay for Recreation Assistant III: $13.37-15.37/hr. DOQ
• Hours vary depending on the programs assigned to work, includes evenings & weekends.
